about
A folk song written by my late father John Sutherland in the mid 70s. I think the recording started life in 1978 & mutated & changed bit by bit until eventually becoming a mammoth 13 instrument wall of sound "trying to create a celtic knotwork sonic picture" in John's words.
It's off the wall, really is & filled with joy & the buzz of creativity & absolute fun of double tracking everything he could get his hands on between two reel to reel tape machines. Everytime a new instrument was layered up the tape degrades a little bit each time it's played. Couple this with being 42yrs old it's lucky to be playable at all.
The result is great to hear personally. I grew up hearing this version so much & hearing it again just makes me feel happy beyond words, in sheer disbelief at the number of notes, a bit sad for knowing what in once sounded like & finally amazed that I can get something to sound like it does now compared to how it was when I started.
